Monas stand for "Monumen Nasional" in Bahasa Indonesia. It is the National Monument, the iconic symbol of Indonesia, which becomes the popular mark of Jakarta as the capital city. Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), means 'Indonesia in beautiful miniature park'. This 120 hectares area is designated as a showcase of more than 250 cultures from more than 30 provinces of Indonesia. There is a park of minature main islands of Indonesia and sites of traditional houses with displays of their costumes, handicrafts, painting, carving, and musical instruments inside. Some of them perform their traditional musical or dance on certain time.

TMII also have a quite large area of bird park and a theathre name IMAX Keong Mas (its design inspired by golden snail). There are also several museums with various theme exhibitions such as Indonesia museum, sport museum, relic museum, Asmat tribe museum, army museum, stamp museum, Komodo museum transportation museum and telecommunication museum.

Taman Impian Jaya Ancol (Ancol Dreamland) is an amusement park located within bay area between Sunda Kelapa Port and Tanjung Priok. This is Jakarta's largest and most popular recreation park. It is built on reclaimed beach land at the Bay of Jakarta. Interesting places inside this area includes the Marina Beach, Sea World, Dunia Fantasi (Fantasy World - the main amusement park), a golf course, hotels and a drive-in theater. There are also open beach area for swim, an artificial lagoon for fishing, boating, bowling, an assortment of nightclubs, restaurants, a steam-bath and massage parlors.

Sea World has great many attractions to its credit; it has a Dolphin Show that is quite popular and a gallery, which showcases many of sea creatures from all over the world. Hundreds of artists from all over the country congregate here to exhibit their work, making the spot a fascinating place for tourists and art connoisseurs. We can even get a portrait of our self-done. Both traditional and modern art and crafts are on display, including paintings, sculptures, traditional Indonesian wayang kulit (leather puppets), gemstone jewelry and many other artistic products. Art performances are frequently held at the Art Market (Pasar Seni) inside the Jaya Ancol Dreamland on Jakarta's beach. Pulau Putri, Pulau Melintang, Pulau Petondan and Pulau Papa Theo have been developed as holiday resorts with cottages, restaurants, diving, and sailing facilities.

These islands have golden beaches fringed with coconut palms. The surrounding waters are a paradise for skin divers. They are filled with a myriad of tropical fish, which live among the multicolored corals. There are several dive/snorkel spot, like: APL (Ocean Conservation Area), Semak Daun Island, Gosong Sekati Island, Kotok Besar Island, Kotok Kecil Island, Sepa Island, and many more.

Best time to visit is around 1st March to 31st August. The islands can be reached from Tanjung Priok or Pasar Ikan (Sunda Kelapa) by ferry or by chartered boat. For those wishing to take marine tour around the islands, boat leaves every day from the Jaya Ancol Marina, departing at 08.00am and 09.00am. The journey time is around 1-2,5 hours.
